L.I.F.E Together-Wed

Living In Faith Everyday”

August 31–December 14, 2011

Wednesday’s L.I.F.E. Together gathering is intentionally designed for the Chestnut Grove community and friends–that we may better Live In Faith Everyday! Each course attempts to enable us to: expose FAITH, engage in FORMATION, and/or enlist FRUITFULNESS. We invite your participation! Dinner begins at 5:30pm. Courses are scheduled 6:30-7:30pm on Wednesdays concurrent with school year and are open to all.

Adult Course Offerings:

Night School:  Isaiah After Dark – This interactive 12 week Bible study will explore the Old Testament writings of the prophet Isaiah in the contemporary light of Jesus Christ.  Come and glean new insights into the timeless message of the Good News — written almost 800 years before the birth of Christ!  This class wil be given concurrently in the Faith Builders Sunday School class on Sunday mornings.  Leaders:  Alan & Katie Alfano.

My Body:  God’s Temple — Stimulated by the Apostle Paul’s less in 1 Corinthians 6.  We will explore our physicality, especially how the body’s fuel intake (food) and fuel usage (physical activity) are of Divine design.  How can greater intentionality around each lead to building a better temple for God?  Physical activity (Pilates, yoga, aerobic movement) will comprise nine class sessions.  Leaders:  Janet Pitt, Ralanta Thomas, Shannon Brown.

The Art of Conversation — The great commandment involves loving God and loving others.  One of the primary tools to “love” others is communication.  Grab a partner and join Tonya King and Steve Turner in a creative “hands on” workshop designed to facilitate improved communication…with tangible and beautiful by-products.  Cost $15 for art supplies.

Naked Spirituality – Feeling artificial, hidden, or heavily-burdened in your relationship with God?  Join Pastor Lance in studying Brian McLaren’s new book:  Naked Spirituality:  A Life with God in 12 Simple Words.  Using simple words like:  here, thanks, and O, McLaren strips away the unwieldy trappings of public religion (distraction, pretense, performance) and introduces a simpler, more honest connection, so that each of us may stand “naked and unashamed” before God and one another.  No actual nudity involved.  Cost:  $13 for book.
