In the opening scene of Luke’s gospel, an older country priest named Zechariah discovers abruptly that he will become a parent. Parenting is rarely peaceful! But, God told Zechariah that this child would prepare the way for an ultimate PEACE for all humanity.
Zechariah sang out:
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins. By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of PEACE. - Luke 1:76-79
Longing for Peace Adriayn Chan
I want to open myself to God.
To mold my worries into prayer.
But, I am worn down and worn out.
God, I want your goodness to come and settle me!
I want a Christ-centered life unfettered by ruinous worry.
So, I immerse myself in stillness,
Breathe in Your peace,
And begin again.
